Road To Mrs.: Gabrielle Joffie’s Gets Fit for the Dress!

Okay, after he popped the question, my immediate thoughts were that I HAVE to fit into my dress (LOL)! I’m sure getting in shape is top of mind for every bride-to-be, but when you have a super long engagement, staying fit just for that big day is very difficult.

After I allowed the excitement of being engaged to wear off, I started to think of what my fitness regimen would be. This past January I was fortunate enough to try Cool Sculpting at Slim Studio Atlanta in Buckhead. My upper abdomen has always been an issue for me, so I decided to get a jump start on my weight loss journey. Cool Sculpting is a noninvasive procedure that freezes the fat cells in the targeted area.

I received two sessions, and while I maintained my diet and workout regimen, I had finally seen some abs!! I highly recommend Cool Sculpting for anyone who has stubborn fat. It is ideal for someone who is within 20 lbs of their ideal weight.

So how much weight do I need to lose to fit into my wedding dress (that I didn’t even select yet)? I realized that I was jumping the gun and needed to focus on creating a realistic game plan for being healthy instead of just focusing on losing weight.

Slim Studio Buckhead stresses that you must maintain a healthy diet and exercise. So I needed to find something that I could stick to. I decided to join Weight Watchers, I mean have you seen Oprah lately? Weight Watchers in addition to working out at least three days a week will help to give me a piece of mind when it’s time to start trying on dresses. Did I mention that Courtney and I will be competing in our 2nd Peachtree Road Race this year in July? Last year we made a commitment to stay fit so the best way we knew how was to participate in this race. Don’t forget that your fiance can help you with your fitness goals. Become one another’s accountability partner!

Ladies, don’t let the fear of fitting into the perfect dress hinder your health regimen because you’re stressing out. At the end of the day, your dress will be tailored to fit you perfectly, and custom made dresses are always an option! Have you heard of Anomalie? One of my fellow brides-to-be sent me the link to their website and I was so impressed! You can have the dress of dreams custom made for your special day at a reasonable price!

“Dresses start at $1000 and around 90% of our dresses fall between $1,000-2,000. The average price is $1,350. The variable pricing is due to (1) material, i.e. amount of silk, and (2) amount of handwork/hand-sewing required, i.e. lace appliques, beading, sequins, custom embroidery, scalloping, etc. If you’re trying to stay within a budget, let your stylist know and you can make sure you’re not pacing for a more expensive dress on your design consultation.” (anomalie.com)
