Whew! Time is definitely flying and with my wedding just a couple of months away (yes we are in the single digits), I was definitely due for a girlfriends getaway! The universe heard my cry when an invitation to the “Support Your Girlfriend’s Weekend Getaway” at Moon Palace Jamaica in Ocho Rios, literally landed in my lap ( special thanks to Nikkia McClain of TENÉ NÍCOLE). This trip was everything I needed and more. I got the opportunity to meet and connect with a group of powerful entrepreneurs and girl bosses; and with two of my besties also attending, this trip became the perfect opportunity to de-stress and enjoy some pre-bachelorette fun in the sun! The gorgeous and ultra modern Moon Palace Jamaica was the perfect back drop for powerful poolside chats, beach bonding, and a fun impromptu bridal squad photo shoot!
This past weekend was a reminder that things don’t always go as planned and that’s just fine. I had originally planned to go to Caribana, a Caribbean celebration and parade in Toronto, Canada, this same weekend. However, as fate would have it, that plan didn’t work out. Instead of being bummed about the change of plans, I welcomed whatever came my way and the universe did me one better by sending me to a gorgeous beach destination! While in Jamaica, I indulged in unlimited everything! When I wasn’t lounging on the beach or having a glass of champagne at one of the many swim up bars, I got the chance to dig in to some serious girl talk. This sassy group of influencers, now known as the Glossy Posse, shared everything from business tips, to declaring big goals and dreams for 2018, to marriage tips and tricks, and everything in between. It was the perfect mix of relaxation and Black Girl Magic!
I knew this much needed girlfriends getaway would be exactly what the doctor ordered. But I had no idea that it would be so much deeper than a fun-filled weekend with old and new friends. Although I had only known the majority of the women that attended for about 72 hours, I was overwhelmed by all the love and support they showed me. Special thanks to my squad Charreah and Arion for making this weekend so special for me. Although my official bachelorette send off will be going down during my wedding weekend, my girls made sure we maximized our time in this sandy paradise with a fun bridal squad photo shoot! I never turn down an opportunity to wear my bride gear (lol). See you all for part deux in LA!
