Sultry Maroon & Green Texas Engagement Session

Dannyell and Jermauria met in 2011 during our freshman year in a Louisiana State University parking lot. Dannyell was about to drive away with a water bottle on her car and Jermauria came to let her know she forgot it on top of the car before she drove away. Ever since that day, they continued to see each other around campus and eventually exchanged numbers. They have been together for almost eight years, but now they’re ready to walk down the aisle in style. Before that day comes though, they celebrated their upcoming union with an engagement session at The Astorian in Houston, Texas. Check out their adorable photos, captured by CivicPhotos.

Engagement story:

Dannyell’s perspective: I thought we were going to dinner to celebrate my dad’s birthday. He passed away when I was younger, and for the first time, my family decided that we should go to dinner to celebrate him. I thought it was odd but I wasn’t going to question it. So we arrived at Perry’s Steakhouse in Houston, which is one of my favorite restaurants. When we walked into the private room, instead of my family waiting, it was filled with my closest friends and family. As soon as I realized what was going on, I looked down and Jermauria was on one knee. It was the most surprising, magical night ever.

For the Groom: Walk us through the behind the scenes of creating this special day

To be honest… I woke up feeling sick and nervous, but when my brother told me he was on his way into town, I felt so much better. As time kept passing, I just kept hoping that everything was going to be okay and go smooth. The time finally came to head to Perry’s and as nervous as I was I just tried to drive slow. When we made it to the restaurant, every step I took was with a deep breath. We got to the private room, and all I remember was getting the ring from Dannyell’s mom and getting down on my knee. It was showtime!

What makes your love special?

We feel like we were meant to be together, like God created us specifically for eachother. We are a team and literally are best friends, so no matter the situation we always have each other’s back. Communication is also another big part of our relationship. Although it took time, we learned how to communicate what we feel with each other because that is the only way we know how to be transparent and clear. Knowing that we are meant for each other, being best friends and knowing how to communicate has brought us so close over the years.

What was the theme of your shoot?

We really wanted to take “classy” pictures in our venue before the big day. We wanted to set the tone for the wedding and have pictures that we can hang all over our house and give to our kids one day. We decided to wear colors that will be incorporated into our big day, so that’s how we decided on green and maroon.

Were there any memorable moments during the shoot?

All and all, it was such an amazing shoot. Our photographer Barett of Civic Photos was amazing. He truly guided us throughout the whole process and made us feel so good and confident.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

The big day. Everything! We have been planning and saving for about 20 months, so it’s so exciting that we are now less than two months away from it all coming together. We can’t wait to just dance the night away with our closest family and friends.

Have you started planning your wedding?

Yes.

Congratulations to the happy couple! We wish you a fruitful marriage and many years of wedded bliss.
