Real Engagements {Texas}: Latricia & Jeremy! – Blackbride.com

Latricia and Jeremy's love story begins in 2008 at the company they both worked for. "I was working as a secretary at a logistics company. Jeremy was the new driver who introduced himself to me with such a manner of a gentlemen, we talked that entire night about everything under the sun. That moment, I knew I wanted him around for a long time," said Latricia.  The two started dating in August of 2009 and are not planning a "Something Pink" themed wedding in Houston, TX, this summer.  Check out their edgy “On the Run” themed engagement session, inspired by the hit song by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, captured by Daniel T.Davis Photography!

Engagement story from the bride-to-be:

A week after V-Day he asked me if I would like to go back to the restaurant we had recently visited on V-Day, and I immediately said Yes because the food was delicious. When we arrived with our closest couple friends, he strategically had us sit in a certain spot, and all the waiters knew exactly what chair would be mine. We all sat at the table and begin to talk and chat about the day. He excused himself and said he had to go to the restroom and the way I was seated, my back was to the restroom. Meanwhile myself and his friends were all conversing and his best friend scoots over to his chair and whispers to me "hey we had been looking for rings for you but I wanted to see which one of these you would like so I can tell him" so we looked through pictures of rings on his phone (by this time Jeremy had been gone for about 15 minutes) we scrolled through several rings until he showed me the last ring. When I looked at it, I said "This is the one" this is the ring I am in love with. I told his best friend to tell him that when he comes back but the entire time Jeremy was behind me standing up listening to the entire conversation and I heard him say " Wow I got it right,” when I turned around he was on one knee with the EXACT SAME RING I had just picked out in his friend's phone. Mind you, we had never ever been ring shopping together and I had never shown him any specific ring l liked. So it is still a mystery how he even knew that it would be the one. Oh and during the time he was believed to be in the restroom, he was outside on the phone with my parents, telling them what he was about to do and receiving my dad's blessing. It was amazing and the fact that he asked my dad first, sealed the deal for me.

From the Groom: Walk us through the behind the scenes of creating this special day:

I wanted it to be very unpredictable. I knew it was close to Valentine’s Day and I gave her every gift I could think of that a girl would want but not a ring because it would’ve been expected. The week after Valentine’s Day. I figured It would be more a surprise to her because that special holiday was over and she may have been thinking it would be a while before I propose. It worked like magic. She was in total shock when it happened. I proposed to her at the same restaurant I took her to for Valentine’s Day along with our closest couple friends. The night I proposed I excused myself from the table to make it appear I had to use the restroom, during that time I was on the phone calling her family letting them know what was about to happen and sealing the deal with her father as well. He said “I know you are the one for her, you have my permission, now go and get it done.”

What was the theme of your Engagement session?

“On the Run” We are both fans of the song and the love they share and wanted to have our engagement session to show love but edgy at the same time. We wanted it to appear as if we are on the run from all the negatives of the world and side by side we could conquer whatever we face. Our photographer truly captured the very essence of the theme.

What makes your love special?

What makes our love special is that we are each others best friends. Friendship was the basis for our relationship. After sharing our deepest darkest secrets with each other, we knew then there was nothing we could hide from each other and that it was great to have someone by your side who would love you in spite of anything and someone you can be your total self with. Our love is perfect for us.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Latricia: I am looking forward to walking in the church and looking forward to my future as Mrs.Hall.

Jeremy: I am looking forward to the ultimate act of Latricia’s father giving me his daughter’s hand and trusting me with his jewel.

Have you started planning your wedding?

The date is August 1, 2015. We wanted to keep it very intimate and fun. I have 7 of my closest friends standing by me. These are ladies I know that when I am 70 years old and wrinkle, they would still be by my side. We decided on a small private dinner after the wedding instead of a traditional reception. Our honeymoon will be in Negril, Jamaica.

Congrats to the happy couple Latricia and Jeremy! We wish you a wonderful wedding and marriage.
