Engagement story from the bride-to-be:

Doug proposed to me at Miami Carnival in October of 2015.  I was totally surprised and could not believe it! We came down in the elevator of our hotel and there, in the lobby, were people holding up signs that read “Will You Make Me the Happiest Man Alive?” I still didn’t get it (lol) until I turned around and saw Doug on one knee.  I didn’t even let him finish the question; I just said yes! Also, Happiest Man Alive a song by Machel Montano, a Trinidadian Soca artist, that we both love, was playing during the proposal.

For the Groom: Walk us through the behind the scenes of creating this special day:

I chose to propose to Ryan at Miami Carnival since it was only fitting since we first met at Carnival in Trinidad. I thought it would be special since we are both “Carnival Junkies.” So, I got my brother to gather a few friends and help me propose with a semi flash mob. I wanted random strangers (to Ryan) to flash the question on poster boards as she walked by, while our song “Happiest Man Alive” played. Needless to say, it was a success.

What was the theme of your Engagement session?

Part 1: Strong and Sexy Part 2: Playful and fun.

What makes your love special?

We never gave up on it. We’re always willing to choose each other.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Solidifying our love for each other. Looking forward to celebrating our big day with family and close friends.

Have you started planning your wedding?

Yes and it will be a traditional Anglican wedding, at the groom’s family’s church, conducted by the bride’s priest.  Afterward, we plan to celebrate with our family and friends.

Congratulations to Ryan and Douglas! We wish you a wonderful wedding and marriage.
