Engagement story from the bride-to-be:

Our engagement started off so playful and I thought he was joking. It was thanksgiving week and that had to be one of the most trying and difficult times for him. He lost his grandmother and around that time he wanted me to meet her because she was getting sick.  Then my mother was suffering from breast cancer and I was a little worried and nervous. It had to be one of the most depressing, stressful times ever for the both of us.  I was at his house and this was my first Thanksgiving in Atlanta, and I had family coming in town to spend thanksgiving in Catersville, Georgia. Donte got on my nerves so bad that day. He was being extremely rude and annoying. So, in my mind I’m thinking this dude is up to something. We talked about thanksgiving and how he was so excited to meet more of my family. I said “you know what would be a big thanksgiving present?” He said “what,” I said “ if we get engaged on thanksgiving."  I didn’t think he was going to seriously propose, but he did! He took out a Zales bag and he told me to close my eyes. He got on one knee and said will you marry me. (mind you my eyes were still closed) he said “you can open them now. I almost passed out, the ring was beautiful.

From the Groom:

While preparing for this special day, we are now in the process of going through premarital counseling and preparing ourselves before the Lord to come together as one. There is also a ton of planning and hard work just so everything can be perfect once that day comes.

What was the theme of your Engagement session?

The theme of our engagement shoot was to express how royally meant to be we are for each other. We chose the swan house because it fit our theme for our wedding perfectly as "The New Royal Couple."  The weather was perfect and our wardrobe was perfect. With our wardrobe we wanted to showcase that 1920’s royal couple look.  We were really  aiming for our engagement session to be magazine worthy.

What makes your love special?
Our love is special because I believe god aligned us to come together at the perfect time. Funny thing is we weren’t looking for a relationship. I know I wasn’t, I was just focused on school, graduating, starting my business, a young girls organization, and just learning more about God and how much he loves me. So our relationship was seriously unplanned. It wasn’t forced it just happened. We we’re friends and now we’re about to get married. We both believe that the things we’ve experienced growing up are similar and that is what draws us so close to each other. Even though we come from two different worlds we level each other out. We believe God makes no mistakes. We started off as friends courting each other. We really took the time to get to know each other. We believe marriage is a gift from God. There is something about a public commitment, which can transform a relationship to a new deeper level. We love each other unconditionally. We love beyond conditions. We have grown together, we support each other, and we are the best of friends. We really have each other's back and that’s what makes our love so special. We have a bond and love that can never be broken.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

We look forward to our families merging together and becoming ONE family. We just want them to meet each other, have fun, get acquainted, and celebrate how royally meant to be we are for each other. We are a royal Family.

Have you started planning your wedding?

Yes! We actually are a few months into planning the big day, although we have a lot of time. Time is flying and we want to make sure we have every little detail that we want to incorporate. So far we locked in our venue, We do have a wedding Coordinator/Planner,  we also have a creative director who’s in charge of the décor for our wedding ceremony & reception. We picked out our wedding colors which are Black, White, And Gold, and we also have our royal wedding parcels , and we’re currently designing our Save The Dates! Our wedding planning is literally a family affair. We are blessed to have family who specialize in the wedding industry.

Congratulations to Angeliqua and Donte! We wish you a wonderful wedding and marriage.
