Byron told Jaleesa that they were going to have brunch at the Navy Pier with his cousins’ one Sunday afternoon in June of 2016. When they arrived at the pier Jaleesa was shocked to see his cousins standing on the steps of the ferris wheel at Navy Pier holding signs saying “Will You Marry Me,” while a crowd had gathered to watch as well. Jaleesa of course said yes and they began their new life as an engaged couple.

From the Bride:

Our wedding day was an amazing day and it turned out to be everything I dreamed it would be and more! I woke up that morning overwhelmed with excitement because I knew I was marrying my best friend. I was truly blessed to be surrounded by friends and family who offered their love and support and helped to ensure the day went off without a hitch! The day was absolutely perfect and I wouldn’t change a thing.

From the Groom:

It was a great day for me getting a chance to share the moment with all of my family and close friends. I was a bit nervous the morning of the big day but once I saw my bride walking down the aisle, I knew I had made the right decision. It was a great occasion that I’ll never forget.

What makes your love special?

What makes our love special is that we were able to sustain our love through a long- distance relationship after we both left school to pursue our individual careers. Even though we were far apart, our love never dwindled. It made it that much more special when we were finally able to reunite in Chicago over two  years later.

Your most memorable moment:

When the bride walked down the aisle.

Wedding song:

Our wedding song was “If This World Were Mine” by Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn. This is one of our favorite love songs.

Favorite wedding detail:

The food was delicious! We had filet mignon, chicken with boursin cream sauce, green beans and mashed potatoes.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

The chance to travel together and build a family.

Advice for a Bride and Groom on their wedding day:&n
bsp;

Try and take in as much of the day as you can. Everything goes by so fast and the next thing you know you’re waking up the next morning and you’re married. Cherish every moment!

Congratulations to the newlyweds! We wish you many years of wedded bliss.
