Earlier this month, we caught up with Koereyelle DuBose, author, speaker and conversation curator, at the 5th annual WERK.PRAY.SLAY Conference Weekend in Atlanta at the The Atlanta Marriott Marquis. Koereyelle took her vision for women empowerment which started with The Single Wives Club, and expanded that vision into a three day conference which took place on November 3rd-5th and included a Glam Night Out, Be Your Own Boss (BYOB) CONFERNCE, WERKaholic Award Dinner and Big Hat Brunch. We got a chance to chat it up with Koereyelle to find out more about her growing empire.

1. Tell us how you came up with the idea for the Werk Pray Slay Conference.

Six years ago, I came up with the idea to host an Annual empowerment conference for single women preparing to become wives– it was called Single Wives Weekend. But after hosting the conference for 2 years, I realized our programming was really beneficial for all women regardless of their relationship status. In 2015, we transitioned to WERKPraySlay: a weekend for winning women. Guests from all over the world gather in Atlanta for a fun-filled weekend that will get them closer to their goals. My vision for WPS is to be a space for like-minded ladies to come together and create strategies for success in their personal and professional lives.

2. This is your 5th year doing this conference, how was this year different and what did you learn.

This year we allowed our guests to create a custom conference experience by selecting breakout sessions to attend. Nine experts presented WERKshops on topics ranging from personal finance to self-care, public relations to relationship readiness. One thing I learned is that no matter where they’re from, what they’ve gone through or what they’re working toward– all women want the same thing: health, wealth, happiness and love.

3. How did you go about choosing the women that led workshops during the conference?

My Dream Team and I really wanted women who were experts in their field but energy was also extremely important. As we know, energy is transferable and we wanted to ensure our guests were surrounded by nothing but good energy and great vibes. This year’s presenter lineup was women who were aligned with their purpose and passionate about their industry.

4. What did you want women to walk away with?

I’ve been to one too many conferences where I walked away feeling like my time (and a good outfit) had been wasted. I’ve also been to events that looked amazing on social media but lacked substance. WERKPraySlay is a totally different, one-of-a-kind experience. Women walk away feeling inspired but also equipped with real tools, tactics, and strategies to bring their dreams to life. They walk away with an understanding of the importance of putting themselves first and getting serious about their success.

5. How do you do your best WERK?

I do my best WERK by staying in my lane. I operate within my zone of genius on a daily basis and I do what works for me. I rely heavily on inspiration from God and do my best to be a vessel for His vision.

6. Can you share a PRAYer with us that has come into fruition?

There have been so many! Looking out into the sold-out crowd at WERKPraySlay was definitely a prayer being answered because six years ago I set an intention to impact women from around the world. Welcoming those women from near and far (33 cities and 3 countries) was truly confirmation that I’m following God’s call.

7. What was your best SLAY moment this year?

My best SLAY moment of the year was being featured on TV One’s Sister Circle TV. This opportunity really gave me the platform to share my purpose and celebrate my progress. It gave me that rush of emotion and reassured me that I really am meant to do this WERK.

8. What are you working on next?

So many amazing things are in the works! Of course, my Confessions of a WERKaholic Podcast is an ongoing project that I absolutely love. I’m also preparing to take another group of boss babes to the beach for my Annual Busy at the Beach Getaway. Similarly to WERKPraySlay, Busy at the Beach gives me the opportunity to empower and educate women on ways to live a life that they love, all while having some fun in the sun. In 2018 we’re going to Cancun and Punta Cana!
