Engagement story:

On the morning of May 26, 2018, Haley got dressed for what she believed was going to be a “mother-daughter luncheon” with her mother. Haley’s mother informed her that she had to be at the event early to help set up and review a video she created to ensure that it was functioning correctly once the guest arrived. Haley quickly got dressed and assisted her mother in loading the cupcakes into her car, the two then rushed off to the Providence Country Club. Upon arrival, Haley’s mother dropped her off at the front door, then proceeded to park the car. The two informed the hostess that they were there for the luncheon and were then escorted to the room.

Haley’s mother began setting up and asked the hostess if she could play the video she sent over. As the video played, Haley’s mother began to walk away while Haley watched. At the end of the video, the words “WILL YOU MARRY ME” displayed across the screen, and a very happy and emotional Haley was directed to go outside where Reggie was waiting for her. He got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said, “YES”! The two hugged in excitement, screams, and applause could be heard. Haley turned around, and to her surprise, she noticed Reggie had gathered all of their closest family and family to witness the special moment. After congratulatory hugs and kisses, they headed off to lunch with all of their friends and family to continue the celebration!

For the Groom: Walk us through the behind the scenes of creating this special day

While living in Virginia, I began to craft a plan that would create the engagement of a lifetime. I initially reached out to some of her dance friends on Instagram and informed them that I would be recording an engagement video. One weekend, when we both return to Charlotte, my brother and I met up with her dance friends at her former dance studio and recorded short cameos of her dance friends congratulating her. This was difficult since many of her former dance friends lived across the country. The video began at the dance studio where she initially began dancing then went to where we first met: Piedmont Middle school, and ended at our home church. After the videographer completed his edit, and the venue was secured, the only thing left to do was ask the question. The day of, my mother and father helped me with the decorations and placement. After a couple of minutes, family and friends began to arrive in anticipation of the event. Everything flowed smoothly and as you can see went well!
