Elegant & Classic New York Wedding

Sparkle and Jarrod met in October of 2006, at SUNY Purchase College. Sparkle was a junior that transferred in and Jarrod was the dorm’s sophomore Resident’s Assistant. “He saw me eating a sandwich at the “HUB” (the school’s dinning hall) and he sat down introduced himself and began eating with me daily,” said Sparkle. “It was the weirdest and boldest things someone had ever done…but I liked his smile.” Sparkle and Jarrod celebrated their union with a classic, glam wedding wedding at the Surf Club on the Sound in New Rochelle, NY. Engagement story

Jarrod proposed to me on December 31, 2014, on my 29th birthday. After we returned home from an amazing dinner at Chart House, Jarrod thought it would be a great idea we record what we’re most thankful for before the New Year rang in. Jarrod recorded me first and then I recorded him next. While recording Jarrod he then bent on one knee, stating he was most thankful for me. Jarrod pulled out a red box and there was my beautiful engagement ring. I cried with excitement exclaiming “Yes!” as he placed the ring on my finger. After 8 years, I believe it was perfect timing! We celebrated our engagement at the Pine Bar and Grill in the Bronx on July 18, 2015 with close friends and family.

From the Bride:

I could not have asked for a better wedding experience. Everything was executed perfectly and precisely without me having to overexert myself. I felt such joy and excitement being surrounded by all of my friends and family. It was warming to physically see the support from all who attended. I looked forward to the reception and one of the most memorable parties of my life celebrating my husband and I.

From the Groom:

I’ve known Sparkle for my entire adult life. After almost 8 years, I proposed to her knowing that she was the woman I wanted to be with until the end. On my wedding day I was calm, collective and appreciative of the support and love that was emanating from everyone who attended my wedding. Sparkle looked so beautiful when I first saw her walking down the aisle, I cried. Saying my vows was emotional for me because it was hard to express my love for her in words. However, like everything else, it worked out.

What makes your love special?

Jarrod and I always remain friends. We love each other dearly but I think people forget that in order to truly love and build with someone, there has to always be a friendship first.

Your most memorable moment:

My most memorable moment was walking down the aisle and catching eye contact with Jarrod.  I could see the same emotion I was experiencing in Jarrod’s face.

Wedding song:

We chose “Loving You” by Minnie Ripperton. This is a song Jarrod and I listen to all the time. Its melodic simplicity and heartfelt lyrics literally how we feel about each other. Sometimes we take turns singing the song to each other.

Favorite wedding detail:

My favorite wedding detail definitely had to be our wedding bands. We chose them for each other and they both personified us individually. I also loved everything about my Zac Posen gown. I just had a baby 4 months prior to the wedding date and my dress still fit perfectly.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

I am most looking forward to our continued growth. I have known Jarrod since my early twenties. I want to continue to learn and love everything about him until we grow old.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Best advice I can give is to remain at peace and stay calm leading up to and on the date of the wedding. A wedding day is supposed to be focused on the pure love and happiness of the couple. It is a joyous occasion so keep it as such.

Congratulations to the newlyweds! We wish you many more years of wedding bliss!
