FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mary Chatman- 31st July 2014. BlackBride.com will launch a unique new digital bridal magazine on September 10th, 2014 exclusively for brides of color. The magazine, which is an extension of the long running website BlackBride.com, is set to feature real weddings and real engagements from around the country, as well as international features. Black Bride Magazine (BBM), will also feature inspirational styled shoots, from fine wedding industry professionals, the latest bridal fashion trends, and expert tips to help brides plan the wedding of their dreams. BBM is a digital semi-annual magazine set to release late summer 2014. The inaugural issue will be a preview of some of the rich content that will be offered throughout the year. BBM also serves as a vendor resource directory offering wedding professionals the opportunity to advertise to an untapped market of brides.

What is unique about Black Bride magazine?

Black Bride magazine not only serves as an online bridal publication for all things bridal, it also focuses on love and marriage with the highly anticipated “After the Aisle,” section which will feature everything from marriage matters, to date night tips, home decorating ideas, financial advice from experts and more. Black Bride also appeals to a wide range of brides, and features inspiration for all women of color.

Every issue will feature real weddings and engagements, the latest in bridal fashions, beauty tips and tricks, life “after the aisle,” the editor’s hot picks from nail polish to shoes, and expert wedding planning advice. The company predicts that the magazine will pick up around 30,000 readers in the first issue alone with an increase by 50% in forthcoming issues. “We look forward to continuing our effort to serve and highlight women of color, and also to the future of this magazine,” says Editor and Chief, Mary Chatman.

The Company:

Black Bride is a wedding planning and lifestyle resource for brides of color. The company, serving brides of color since 1998, was initially formed online to fulfill a void in the wedding industry. “You very rarely see women of color featured online, in print, on the bridal fashion runway, or on television. African-Americans alone spend more than $1.6 billion annually on weddings. We want to shine the light on brides of color in an elegant, chic, positive manner, while providing them with the best resources in planning the most important day of their lives, says Chatman.” Women of color from around the world have searched online and landed on BlackBride.com for years. The company was acquired in 2011 by Mary Chatman, who is determined to continue to support women of color across the globe with their wedding planning needs. Editor and CEO, Mary Chatman states “I’m so excited to work with an awesome team to create an unprecedented unique bridal magazine that serves all women of color! Although we cater to a niche market of brides, all brides regardless of race or ethnicity can find inspiration on our website, and in the BB magazine. We welcome all brides to subscribe and be inspired!”

{Black Bride Magazine Snippet}:  First Comes Love

Maya and Brandon on Love & Friendship:

Our love is special because above all else, we are best friends. There hasn’t been a day since meeting that we haven’t communicated in some form or fashion. We are able to unapologetically be ourselves around each other. We joke together, stumble together, and allow each other to be vulnerable. We have also always made each other very accountable. In turn, this has allowed us to become better people for each other and in life in general.
