An Elegant Black and Gold Wedding in Georgia

Endia and Ernest first crossed paths at the University of Alabama in 2012. They were both participants in a dance performance called Dance Alabama. Later, they found out they shared the same Biology class. Endia asked Ernest for homework help one day and his answer was, “Yes, but you would have to go on a date with me first.” From that first date, they have been best friends ever since. Check out the details of their gorgeous gold and black wedding ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia with Malcolm Davie Photography behind the lens.

Engagement story:

I planned a surprise pool party for Ernest to congratulate him on passing his STEP 1 board certification exam. I wanted us to be able to have some friends and family over to relax and have a good time. The day of the party, I noticed he was wearing jeans and a button down shirt in 90-degree weather. I kept asking him to put swim trunks on but, he said he was fine.

During the party, Ernest got up to speak and thanked everyone for coming. He called me up to the front and began to tell me how much he appreciated my support and love for him, then he went down on one knee and proposed. Little did I know, Ernest and my mother had been planning this engagement party for months!

What makes your love special?

Our love is special because we always try to have fun and laugh. No matter where we are or who we are with, we try our best to bring joy along with us.

From the Bride: (briefly tell us about your wedding experience and how you felt on your big day)

My wedding experience was unconventional. I am currently working on my Masters degree in Mississippi so I was a did most of my wedding planning from another state. I am fortunate enough to have a mother who was willing to take on the role of making sure everything was handled. Leading up to the week of the wedding, COVID started to become bigger so every day we would have at least 5-10 people call and say they were not coming anymore for safety reasons. The day of my wedding, I was sleepy, nervous, and excited. Everything was surreal. Our wedding was perfect, considering it was the weekend before the world shut down because of Covid -19.

Your best/most memorable moment:

My most memorable moment was trying to find a Wal-Mart with Ernest at 2 o’clock in the morning on our wedding day. I had purchased LEGO’s as a bribe for my flower girls along with a USB for the DJ and bobby pins. We ended up getting totally distracted, bought a ton of snacks and roamed for a couple of hours just laughing and being silly. It was a genuine moment for us both. It was like the calm before the storm.

Wedding song, explain choice for song:

We choose “Best Part” by H.E.R ft. Daniel Caesar because of the lyrics. We strive to be the best part of each other’s day. No matter what goes on at work or at school, we hope to be compassionate and genuine enough to make each other’s day better.

Favorite wedding detail (favors, cake, food, band, etc.):

One of our favorite wedding details was definitely the late night snack. We had mimosas with chicken and sausage biscuits that came out around 10pm that night. The guests were so happy after dancing and drinking for hours. The second detail was the brass band from New Orleans, parading in with our umbrellas, bridesmaids, groomsmen, and the band in front of us. It was amazing!

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

As a married couple we most look forward to seeing each other achieve goals and dreams. We are each other’s accountability partners and number one fans. We look forward to having success together.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

My advice to a bride and groom on their wedding day is to make sure you sneak away and have a moment to yourselves. You will be pulled every direction on your wedding day between pictures and speaking to family members, it is very easy to spend more time apart than together. Dance together, hold hands, go have a drink just the two of you. You may feel obligated to host and entertain the entire time but your guests will understand if you disappear for a little to spend time with each other.

Congratulations to the happy coup
le! We wish you a fruitful marriage and many years of wedded bliss!
