A Whimsical Rapunzel Wedding Styled Shoot

This Rapunzel inspired Ohio styled shoot is equal parts whimsical and beautiful. We’re never too old for fairytales and this shoot is filled to the brim with gorgeous details. Omari Souza of JazzyMae Photography and Lucretia Williams of Distinct Event Planning pulled together some of Ohio’s best vendors to create this magical session.

Shoot location: Ravenwood Castle in New Plymouth, Ohio, USA

Shoot theme:  Princess Rapunzel & Prince Eugene Fitzherbert whimsical wedding

Color combinations: Rose gold, ivory, turquoise, champagne

Favorite detail: The head table décor

From the coordinators:

Modern fairytale beauty and woodsy Old World charm can spark love and style beyond the storybooks. Just take a stunning modern-day princess and a dashing dark-eyed prince to a castle in the lush hills of a rustic hideaway and watch a new love story unfold. Weaving the tale of Rapunzel into an eclectic design — where urban flair meets classic details and where clean modern lines meet romantic rustic textures — was the inspiration for this styled shoot. Princess Rapunzel and Prince Eugene give off New Age royalty vibes as they pair bold and trendy with timeless. The edgy tousled pickups of the bride’s gown give the sweetheart bodice an unexpected trendiness; while the pearls and crystals in her accessories give a timeless feel. His inky blue tux turns from the classic color choices, while his satin bowtie and ruffled shirt show off throwback style. At the reception, a turquoise blue-speckled cowhide casually drapes across a chunky vintage table beneath a boldly not-so-center centerpiece for a defiantly funky edge. While the flowery antique-style china, simple stemware, and pops of rose gold anchor the tablescape in chic on-trend elegance. Add a honey-colored “naked” cake and powdered sugar dusted cake balls wrapped in doilies and you have a perfect balance of rustic textures and delicate styling. There’s no end to the style and inspiration when a modern-day fairytale comes true!

Shoot Details:

Linens:

We selected a Farm Table in lieu of table linens.  The texture of the Farm Table was the perfect foundation for the modern and vintage table décor.  To add a special flare, we flanked the Farm Table with a beautifully eclectic real leather turquoise cowhide.  For the cake table, we used an Ivory Charisma linen with wavy details in the fabric.  We tied a Champagne Gatsby linen around the table as a train to represent the long hair of Princess Rapunzel.

Centerpiece Description:

Fairy-tale and magic… This whimsical over-the-top centerpiece design is displayed in a tall clear cylinder vase full of lush greens including tree fern, clouds of white hydrangea and fabulous rose blooms. Hand stringed rose petal garlands and crystal embellishments hang from the base of this beauty creating layers of textures and aesthetic appeal. Regal at its finest! To complete this look, replicating the long luxurious hair strands of Rapunzel… an explosion of plumose fern, clustered together and intertwined with other variations of dynamic greens and flourishing flowers cascades from the base of this centerpiece, diagonally stretching down the Farm Table onto the ground.  Adding the mixture of shiny rose gold ceramic vases, rose gold taper candle holders, turquoise and brown honeycomb mercury glass charismas and turquoise mercury glass votive holders – giving you a field of drama to this happily ever after.

Place Settings:

To stay with the vintage meets modern elegance we dressed the head table with turquoise-hued Chargers trimmed in brown, iridescent champagne colored napkins folded on the charger and topped with a vintage inspired salad plate.  We added stunning rose gold flatware and crystal champagne flutes, goblets, and wine glasses.  The Triomphe Chairs designed with intricate lime wash motif carving throughout and fluted feet complimented the Farm Table exquisitely.

Stationery:

Whimsical rose gold with blush, gold and turquoise tones. Regal script font blended with traditional block letters to create a merry combination.

Unique details from your shoot:

Behind Ravenwood Castle lies a gorgeous decorative hedge maze with a statue of the mythological creature, Pan, nestled in the midst of the maze playing his iconic flute.  Pan’s Labyrinth was the perfect backdrop for our Head Table as we celebrated the union of Princess Rapunzel and Prince Eugene.
