A Rustic Glam Wedding in Raleigh, NC

Jasmine and Myron started off as Facebook friends back in May of 2015. Their online friendship included an occasional like on a status or picture, but never anything more.  After becoming friends on Instagram, Myron sent a message to Jasmine inquiring about a book she posted a picture of.  A few months later, in the summer of 2017, Myron direct messaged her again; only this time he was asking to take her out.  The two have been inseparable ever since. Engagement story

(From Myron): It was an amazing day! Jasmine had shown me what true love was, and I was fully prepared to take the next step. Several weeks prior  to planning our weekly date night, I had driven to her hometown of Oxford, NC to ask her parents’ permission.  After I received their blessing, I contacted some of her closest friends to help with decorations for the proposal night. I scouted the area beforehand, so I knew the exact spot where it would take place. I made reservations and finalized my plans. That day, we got off the escalator and I mentioned that I wanted to make a stop first. As we approached, all of her family and friends appeared as I got down on one knee. I know she is a blessing from God– my blessing, my rib and created just for me.

(From Jasmine): That night was truly a surprise for me. I felt so happy to be able to experience that moment with all the people in my life that I love. He did a great job! I had no idea.

What makes your love special?

We have always made the commitment to be completely vulnerable with one another. No topic is off limits, and we have allowed each other to be open and honest about all topics. We view each other as equals and know that no matter what, we have each other’s backs.

From the Bride:

The day of the wedding I was very calm, which was a complete surprise to me. I always imagined that I would be completely overwhelmed and stressed. I remember getting up that morning feeling at ease.  I drank wine with my girls, laughed and joked with them as the day went on. There was an overwhelming sense of peace that I had that day! I did get a little nervous as I was waiting to go into the venue though. The ceremony was absolutely touching to me. Our vows were so heartfelt.  The entire ceremony was overwhelming and emotional.  By the time the reception came, I made time to dance and bask in the moment with my new husband.  It was an overwhelming experience to be surrounded by all of our friends, family and loved ones.

From the Groom:

To me, our wedding was one of the best weddings I’ve been to. It was intimate, heartfelt, fun and full of happiness. I felt calm and at ease. I felt loved, and I really liked the family prayer that we included in our ceremony. The design of our wedding was top level. Seeing her come down the aisle for the first time blew my mind.

Your best/most memorable moment:

The moment we cherish the most is standing at the altar, holding hands and exchanging the vows we wrote ourselves. It was so heartfelt and real.

Wedding song, explain choice for song:

My entry song was John Legend’s “So High.”  We loved that song because it does have our last name, and the lyrics and song itself are so powerful.  As for our first dance, we chose Sade’s “By Your Side.”  The lyrics in Sade’s song describe how we feel for one another.  It was a powerful declaration that despite what happens we will always have each other’s backs.

Favorite wedding detail:

We loved our sweetheart table. The design that Demetrius Faison of Creative Touch created was absolutely breathtaking. The entire design of the wedding was beautiful. We also both loved our cake. Kristina Solloway at Love Cakes did a wonderful job as well.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We are excited to continue to build a future together. The icing on the cake is having each other through all of the good and bad times in life. We look forward to continuing to travel and learning new things about each other. We are super excited to see what God has in store for our union.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Relax! Enjoy the day! It goes b
y so quickly. You will blink and it is all over. We also recommend taking a few minutes to just enjoy each other’s company. Don’t be so busy greeting everyone that you miss out on the party.

Congratulations to the happy couple!  We wish you many years of wedded bliss!
