Our Favorite Looks From Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2018

You know what they say, “April showers bring May flowers.” And that’s exactly what we saw during this year’s spring New York Bridal Fashion Week. From gorgeous floral appliques and lace to glittering metallics and beading, nearly every preview found a way to capture the reminiscent romance of blooming rain. Classic silhouettes like ball gowns continue to reign, however, sexier cuts were also stealing the show. Other notable trends include bold colors, capes and daring jumpsuits. Black Bride got a first-hand look at some of these breathtaking trends from the best of the best in the wedding industry, including Beta, Justin Alexander, Morilee by Madeline Gardner, Vera Wang and Watters!

Of course, there were countless fab looks that debuted down the runway, but here are a few of our top picks from the 2018 Bridal Fashion Week runways in New York City!

Berta Spring 2019 Collection

Berta’s gowns have always been known as the epitome of style, and this year’s spring collection is no exception. Combining delicate and flirty shapes with slight shimmer overwhelmingly complements the female form, and we couldn’t be happier. Pairing these ensembles with airy tulle, romantic lace and billowy plumage modernizes the wedding dress as we know it for fashion-forward brides.

Justin Alexander Spring 2019 Collection

Dare to be different with Justin Alexander’s flashy spring collection. Sheer fabrics provide a tantalizing tease that’s perfect for when the weather heats up. High leg slits, embellished rompers and regal capes dish out a unique twist that accents a woman’s curves. Mixing in these opposing cuts with the purest of white makes the past meet present day for creative brides.

Morilee by Madeline Gardner Spring 2019 Collection

It should be no surprise that Madeline Gardner is in touch with her green thumb, but we couldn’t stop ourselves from gushing over the flowering runway this year’s Morilee dresses went down. Intricate layers of Chantilly lace, crystal beaded waistlines and sequin overlays reinforced striking feminity with swirling floral details. The plunging necklines add subtle sex appeal while ribbon-tied scarves and belts maintain each gown’s ladylike appearance.

Vera Wang Spring 2019 Collection

With Vera Wang’s latest creations, the bolder the bridal gown the better. Rich pigments are a far depart from the crisp white dresses we’re used to seeing on brides. Melding vibrant springtime hues with classic ball gown silhouettes is a perfect solution for the traditional bride that wants to stand out. Add in many layers of tulle, intricate drapery, ribbons and floral appliques, and you’ve got a collection that’s fit for a colorful queen.

Wtoo by Watters Spring 2019 Collection

Vatana Watters is no stranger to contemporary designs, and she proves she’s still got it with her ready-to-wear line, Wtoo by Watters. From slinky mermaid gowns and tiered skirts to sparkling sequins and corseted jumpsuits, there’s something for everyone in this trendy collection. We especially admired the use of statement floral crowns that added a touch of whimsy down the runway.
