In 1965 the only available cosmetic brands for black women were Fashion Fair and Flori Roberts. Even with those existing companies starlets were subject to mixing foundations for the right blend or restored to wearing unattractive ashy tones on their beautiful skin.  Fast forward to 2013 Latina and Black women between the ages of 18-44 make up 40% of the US population. Although we have quite a few top quality beauty brands such as: Iman, MAC, Vera Moore, Black Opal, and more there is still a need for top luxurious beauty brands for women of color.

New to the US but the #1 ethnic cosmetic brand in France is the Parisian company Black Up cosmetics.  Black Up cosmetics is the first Make-Up Artist brand created for women of color. Founded in 1999, the luxury cosmetic company is sold at 200 retail locations and available in Ghana, Martinique, England, Angola, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Madagascar, and throughout all of France. The collection became available to American consumers in 2011 and is sold exclusively through the company's web site for now. Their extensive color collection is filled with rich long lasting pigments that illuminate the skin. The foundation palettes are sold in various textures from powder, cream to powder, to liquid and are available in 13 shades. The vibrant eye-shadows  lip glosses, liners and vibrating mascara are more than plenty to experiment with.
