Joi and Augustus met on U Street in Washington D.C. in 2012, through a mutual friend. "Although, I didn’t get her number that night we would continue to run into each other at different events in the city and eventually I was successful in getting a date," Augustus recalled. I surprised Joi for our engagement, she believed we were going to a gala in D.C. but ended up at her own engagement. Justin Robinson, a great photographer based out of Atlanta, was able to fly into D.C. and capture our official engagement photos.
For the Groom: Walk us through the behind the scenes of creating this special day:
I wanted to make it the biggest surprise of her life and I am proud to say it was a success. To this day she says “I can’t believe you were able to pull it off without me knowing anything.”
What makes your love special?
Our love is special because we can be our authentic self without the fear of judgment from one another. We both are pretty goofy.
What was the theme of your shoot?
Highly sophisticated.
Were there any memorable moments during the shoot?
Yes, Joi was in complete disbelief that the day had happened.
What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?
I am look forward to seeing her walk down the aisle and partying at the reception with our family and friends.
