How to Create a Vision For the New Year With Your Partner

Power couples have powerful visions. Creating a compelling vision for the life you want with your partner is how you set yourself up to have and live the life of your dreams. A vision should be viewed as yours GPS, what I like to call your “Guiding Partner System.” It is the thing that directs and guides your relationship. When my fiancé and I started dating, we were both huge fans of planning ahead for the new year and mapping out a vision. We realized this was a great tool for individual and joint dreams. Once we started creating a joint vision, we were able to manifest so many of our dreams, including getting engaged this year! When you have no vision, you don’t know how you will reach your destination. With 2017 quickly approaching, use this opportunity to create a joint vision that embodies the love, abundance, prosperity, and most importantly, joy you want to experience in the new year.

Here are 5 tips for creating and manifesting a joint vision with your partner:

Vision begins with a question.

You can’t craft a vision together if you don’ t know what you want to achieve together. What do we want? It is a simple question, but often hard to answer. Creating a discussion around this question will open the lines of communication, organize your thoughts, and clarify what you want. That is why you begin the journey here. I suggest creating a space that gives you both permission to dream big, dig deep, pray, connect with your core values, and explore all the magic that can be created as a team. Purpose -partners don’t leave their destinies up to chance; they choose the path of design.

How do you want to feel?

Often, the vision we have for our lives is rooted in how we want to feel. Rather than focusing on material things. Focus on how your desires make you feel. The emotion tied to your desires activates manifestation. Explore the emotions you want to experience in the new year. Those emotions can range from happiness to excitement to freedom and even power. Once you are clear on what you want to feel, use that as a roadmap to shape your vision for the new year.

Vision is purpose written down.

That is the next important step in the vision creating process. I have found there is something powerful that happens when you write down your vision. The odds of you transforming whatever you and your partner desire become a greater possibility when you put pen to paper. Just the simple act of writing it down makes it real. It will also keep you both motivated and help track your progress. With life, we can become easily distracted. There are things that are bound to throw you off-course, but having a “Guiding Partner System” will help redirect your focus where it needs to be and keep your relationship in alignment.

Get Visual

A vision requires visuals. Creating a vision board is an excellent tool for visualization, and it’s a fun activity to do with your partner, where you both get to create a visual representation of what you want your life to look like. Grab your favorite stack of magazines and cut out words, pictures, and phrases in alignment for your vision. Create categories to help you organize your vision board like: Love/Romance, Travel, Finances, and Fun. Remember, what you see drives what you become.

Put the Vision to Work

The vision won’t work unless you both do. Having a vision is the easy part; there is no sacrifice or sweat needed for doing that. Making it happen is the hard part. Trying to make it happen alone is even more difficult. It’s going to take the cooperation of both partners to commit to doing the work that will translate that vision for your relationship into a reality. Hold each other accountable, review the vision together, aspire to be relationship goals for each other, but above all, enjoy the journey and celebrate your wins along the way.
