The Love is in the Details, says Deniesha Joseph owner of Couture Events by D

The Love is in the Details

When planning a wedding, there are my many details behind each element.  You have to look beyond the big picture and keep the logistics in mind.  We all watch the television shows that display many beautiful weddings but you are seeing the final product, not the details behind it or the many hours of labor.

When you have a grand idea for your wedding there will be some behind the scene details.  For example, you want to use names of countries you have traveled to with your fiancé for your tables instead of numbers.  Sounds simple enough right?.. but before you run with that idea consider this; how many guests will you have?  If you are having more than 150 guests, this idea as cute as it is may turn out to be chaotic.  It’s easy to find numbers on a table and people know the general rule of thumb for table number settings but the names may confuse them.  This may cause your guest to take longer than anticipated to find their seats and may make some of your guest a little irritated.

So with that in mind how do you avoid wondering guests?  This is the detail you need to work before your wedding day.  Make a plan, rely that plan to your wedding planner/coordinator or the maitre d of the reception venue.  You can also assign this task to a trusted friend or family member that is not in the bridal party.  People like to see organization and thoughtful details.  It shows that you are a great hostess.

Now the table cards is just one example, there a lot of wonderful ideas out there that cause for a well mapped out plan.  Here are some helpful tips on how to ensure you have covered everything.

1) Ask a professional for their opinion.  If you have a wedding planner/coordinator, that’s our job.  We take your ideas and make it happen for you and we take care of all the details so you don’t have to worry about it.

2) Start with your idea in full detail and write down exactly what your vision is how you see it all happening.

3) Construct a step by step list of all materials and/or labor that is needed to execute your plan.

4) Ask for a second opinion from your MOH, MOB or someone you trust.  A fresh prospective can help you fine tune your plan.

5) Be sure to run your plan by the venue management so they are aware of your plans and they can also assist you with making sure your plan is executed correctly.
