Engagement story {From the Groom}:
I was very excited when I decided that I was going to propose to Ebony. I talked to my mom a little about it, but the first person to officially know that I was going to propose was India (Ebony’s sister). I told her by sending her a picture of a ring and asked her “What do you think.” I bought a ring and knew that I wanted to propose to her while we were with her family, in N.C., at the end of November. A couple of days before leaving for N.C. I wanted to look at a couple more rings to make sure I loved the one that I got her. While looking at other rings I found another ring that I loved, and couldn’t decide between the two. So a couple days before leaving for N.C., I bought a second ring, and had it sent to N.C. I hid the ring and threw the jewelry store bags in some luggage to make sure she didn’t see them in the trash anywhere. At that point I had more than enough rings; I just needed to figure out how I would propose. We were going to be in Raleigh, so I knew that we would be around people that she loves. As long as I did it while we were around family there was no way that I could blow it. While packing, Ebony asked to borrow some of my luggage, and I accidentally gave her the suitcase that had the jewelry store bag in it. Ebony saw the jewelry store bag, and I had to tell her that I bought a watch to throw her off (luckily I really did buy a watch). When ring number two arrived in N.C., Mike (India’s husband) and I picked it up in the morning. I told Mike that this was the second ring that I got her and I was going to let her pick the one she liked better. Mike gave me a look and I could tell he was thinking, “That is the dumbest idea ever, but how can I tell him that in a nice way.” Mike told me that I should just pick one to go with. I finally decided on a ring, now I had to really figure out how to propose. At home we make sure that we have a weekly date to have time to ourselves, with no distractions, so I told her that we haven’t had time to ourselves that week and we should take a walk and listen to music. I grabbed the ring and we started walking down a nearby nature trail shuffling through music. After only walking for 15 minutes, Ebony started complaining that it was cold and we should go back. At that time I knew it was go time. We stopped in the middle of the trail, and I started saying all of this sweet stuff that neither of us remember. I got down on one knee and made one of the best moves that I’ve made in my life. She said yes, so I put the ring on her finger and stood up and she immediately sat down. With a face full of tears and she was telling me how happy she was. After picking her up and walking back to the house, her family had an engagement party planned within hours.

From the Groom:

My wedding experience was far better than I could've imagined.  I really appreciated sharing the most important day of my life with the love of family and friends.  My wife, guests and I had a great time — that is all that I could ask for.

From the Bride:

I had the absolute wedding of my dreams. It was AMAZING. Everything was executed perfectly by my wedding coordinator. I would not change a thing. A lot of our guests said it’s the best wedding they have ever been to, and seein
g all their smiles in the pictures and videos, makes me feel very happy. It was worth all the money and stress! All in all, I had my dream wedding, in my dream location, to my dream man, in front of the best family and friends we could ask for. Best day of my life. Complete fairy tale.

What makes your love special?

As soon as we met, it was like we had known each other for years. We talked about everything on that first night, with this familiarity that neither of us could explain. We had many obstacles that most couples would not be able to endure. But we stuck together through it all and it all made us and our love for each other stronger.

Favorite wedding detail:

The personalized authentic maracas which doubled as seat holders/escort cards, we directed our guests to shake them as we exited, and the party favors

The couple's most memorable moment:

Our first dance while our guests were holding up sparklers. It felt magical.

Wedding song: Nothing Even Matters by Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Growing together and taking on life’s joys and challenges together as best friends. Starting a family, traveling the world, and snuggling when we have our movie nights.

Advice for a future Bride and Groom on their wedding day:

It’s going to be a very busy day. It will go by so fast. So take a moment at the reception, to really soak it all in. Enjoy every second.

Congrats to the newlyweds Ebony and Marques! We wish you many more years of wedded bliss.
