Real Weddings {Atlanta}: Jennifer & Keith! – Blackbride.com

Jennifer and Keith met while Jennifer was on a last minute girls trip to Miami for Super Bowl weekend in 1999. "He was one of the guys to pick us up from the airport. Keith was very friendly, but I wasn't interested. After getting back to Atlanta my best friend had exchanged numbers with one of the other guys and months later, she mentioned Keith asked about me. I told her to give him my number," recalls Jennifer.  Keith and Jennifer were both in relationships at the time and over the years became friends and kept in touch on occasion. As fate would have it, the two reconnected in 2010 in Atlanta, and a relationship blossomed shortly thereafter. Check out their "Modern Chic" themed wedding, captured by Janelle C. Photography !

Engagement story:

My husband is from Miami, he knows I really love the beach, so he booked a trip in 2011 for my birthday on a hot summer June weekend for me to have fun, so I thought. He mentioned we had dinner reservations for the evening so I knew I had to be cute. On the way to dinner it started to drizzle a bit, and we saw a beautiful rainbow appear and I said " Aw babe look at God smiling at us on my birthday, this is perfect!" and we laughed. He took me to a very romantic restaurant on Coconut Grove island on the water, it was beautiful! We sat outside and enjoyed the breeze, dinner was good. I noticed the conversation between us was a bit serious…we spoke about how we loved each other and our future. I mentioned to him how I appreciated him for the trip and it was all so beautiful. So then, our waiter brings out the dessert and it's a plate with a slice of key lime pie drizzled with happy birthday in chocolate. Next thing I know, Keith is getting on his knee with a box in hand and I screamed, "Oh my God!" I had to compose myself because this is a classy spot. I had my hand over my mouth in complete shock, I had no idea he was going to propose! Poor thing, his hand was shaking and at that moment it was all real to me. He said, " Will you be my wife?" and I said, "Yes!" in tears.

From the Bride:

I was feeling really happy, blessed and relaxed on my wedding day, just what I prayed for. My mother, sister and our daughters was full of joy and tears. I had a couple of my girlfriends to lend a helping hand for whatever I needed. I was so excited that it was a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. I really realized that on that day I was going to marry my friend, my King, the one I truly love, it gave me butterflies. When I was walking down the aisle I could literally feel the love in the room, I felt overwhelmed. Everything and everybody looked amazing! I was smiling the whole day and so were our parents. I am the first to get married in my family and Keith is the last.

From the Groom:

I was ready to marry my queen. She is beautiful inside and out. Everything was smooth that day. It was a blessing to have family, friends and a few of my boys from NYC, Chicago, and Florida to share our wedding day with us. I was truly happy.

Brotherly love:

My brother walked me down the aisle because my dad passed away 4 years ago, I had a locket with my dad's picture inside placed on my bouquet.

The couple's most memorable moment:

My memorable moment was when the doors opened for my brother and I to walk in…the guests gasped! And cameras were just snapping away. And for Keith, his moment was when he walked down the aisle with his own theme song, James Brown (instrumental) " It's a Man's World" it was a big hit.

 Wedding song:

Our wedding song was Beyonce?'s version of "At Last". We really felt like it this song truly fit us, because we finally did it. It took some time and somehow God made it happen.

What makes your love special?

Keith and I were the best of friends first, he says I'm his ride or die. We have fun together and we have a spiritual connection.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

We are looking forward to growing together in many ways as a couple and family, traveling and just loving each other more. Being supportive of one another.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Leave the planning to the planner that day, which Jan McBee did a great job. Take it all in and take your time to notice the little things. Delegate friends or family to do a few things, relax and enjoy.

Congratulations to newlyweds Jennifer and Keith! We wish you many more years of wedded bliss!
