Andrae and Katrice met in middle school in the mid 90's! The schoolmates attended Hart Middle School together for a short period of time until Andrae transferred and went to a different school. The short time they knew each other in middle school left an impression on the both of them because they never forgot each other. Later in life, Andrae and Katrice ended up at Eastern High school for their senior year in 2001. But once again, Andrae transferred to a different school and they lost touch. As fate and social media would have it, the two reunited on Facebook a couple of years after college. Although the timing was off, Andrae told himself that if he ever got the chance to be a part of Katrice’s life, he wouldn’t let her go. In 2010, Andrae and Katrice officially began dating and as Andrae would like to say he “made her fall in love with him." Andrae and Katrice celebrated their union with a fall wedding this year at the Turf Valley Golf Resort, in Ellicott City, MD. Check out their special day captured by photographer Derrel Todd of Footprint Fotos!

Engagement Story:
We don't have a traditional engagement story. The truth of the matter is, when we first got married on Valentine's Day 2014, we didn't have rings at all. We had gone through relationship/ pre-marital counseling in 2013 and decided to have an intimate ceremony at the courthouse with our parents present in February 2014. We left the courthouse and got finger tattoos symbolizing our union and commitment to one another. We agreed that we would exchange rings at the altar when we had our big wedding ceremony in September. But Andrae couldn't wait that long. He came home one day in August and seemed like he was up to something. He was very affectionate and kept telling me how much he loves me and how he wanted to give me a ring sooner. I got excited and actually patted him down, but no ring. I went in the bathroom to finish my make-up and turned around to my husband down on one knee with a ring box in his hand asking me to marry him "again". Not your traditional "engagement" story, but I wouldn't change the way we did things for the world! We believe that more emphasis should be placed on the MARRIAGE and not the WEDDING, which is why we went through pre-marital counseling and decided on an intimate ceremony earlier in the year!
From the Bride:
My wedding experience was awesome! I wasn’t nervous at all. I was at peace and more anxious than anything to get the party started at the reception.
From the Groom:
I was a little frustrated because I had to do a lot of the sound set up alone and it was hot (outside wedding, 80 degrees the first Sunday of Autumn). However, in retrospect, it was all worth it. I eventually relaxed and took in the day.
What makes your love special?
We have a mutual love and respect for one other that’s clearly evident; we connect on a level that’s unexplainable; our communication has grown and continues to grow daily; and its all attributed to our love for God and love for one another.
Your best/most memorable moment:
The most memorable moment was the intro into the reception, we came in to the happy song by Pharrell. We made up in our minds that we were gonna go in and enjoy ourselves, and that’s exactly what we did.
Wedding song, explain choice for song:
We chose a medley consisting of 3 songs that reminded us of how we met. 1. All I do by Troop; 2. When I’m with you by Tony Terry; and 3. All my life by KC & Jo Jo
Favorite wedding detail:
My favorite wedding detail was our backdrop and the cake! The cake was exactly how I wanted it and it tasted good too!
What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?
Celebrating two anniversaries…lol Seriously, traveling together and raising beautiful children.
Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:
RELAX! I had a few people give me this prep talk the week of my wedding and it worked! This is YOUR day. Something goes wrong on everybody’s wedding day, even if its small, so don’t sweat it! Take in the day, enjoy your husband, and live in that moment because you’ll never get it back and it will go extremely fast. And get a good photographer and/or videographer.
Congrats to newlyweds Katrice and Andrae! wish you many more years of wedded bliss!
