Real Weddings {Alabama}: Shenetter & Dennis! – Blackbride.com

Shenetter and Dennis met in 2006 while they were both working for the SITEL company. In 2008, one of their managers suggested that they would make a good couple and that they should date.  Both Shenetter and Dennis responded with “nope, that’s okay.” However, three years later their managers suggestion would come into fruition. In January 2011, Shenetter received a message from Dennis on Facebook.  The two chatted through Facebook messaging and then exchanged numbers. After about a month of frequent phone calls, Dennis finally asked Shenetter out on a date. A few short months later the two became an official couple. The couple tied the knot at The Bridge of Faith Chapel Christian Center in Birmingham, AL. Check out their special day captured by Bridal Suite member The Price Approach Photography.

Engagement story:

The engagement was something that I always wanted Shenetter to remember. I thought about proposing on graduation day or going to her job, but I wanted to do something different since she wanted the memory to be done by a photographer. So, I had a talk with our photographer Bryant and told him that we should do a photo session on November 11, 2012, and that would be the date that we been together for a year and half. So on that date we went to church together, and after church we went to Railroad Park to take our pictures. We took a few pictures, and while she was sitting down I got on one knee and ask her to be my wife. I had been praying about the proposal and I knew exactly what I wanted to say, and she said yes. It was a moment that we both will never forget.

From the Groom:

On the wedding day I was not nervous in the morning because I had been praying. But once I got to the place and start getting ready I started to get butterflies. Once I came out with my pastor and my best men my hands start to sweat because everybody was looking at me to see if I was going to cry. I almost cried, but I looked over at Shenetter’s cousin and she told me to smile. Its’ a day I will never forget because I married my queen on that day.

From the Bride:

I must admit I was not a nervous bride. We encountered a lot of stress leading up to the wedding but I was ok after shedding a few tears and praying. The day of my whole attitude was more like honey let me go get my man—I’m so ready to say “I DO!

Your best/most memorable moment:

Dancing with my father is my most memorable moment. We practiced for 2 days on dance moves to The Temptations “My Girl” On the day of the wedding a combination of being hungry and nerves caused my dad to forget the dance moves and we had to improvise the steps.

 What makes your love special?

1 Corinthians 14:40 let all things be done decently, and in order. For me things are working out according to His plan. First comes love, then comes marriage, and then at some point a baby carriage. I love this feeling of “real love”.

Favorite wedding detail:

My favorite details from the wedding were my special touches that I added such as the kid’s only tickets, the corks that we used as table number holders, the handmade bow-ties/suspenders, and my little nephew showing off his dance moves.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

As a couple we are looking forward to life lessons. Life lessons will make us remember why we said I do in the first place.

Congratulations to newlyweds Dennis and Shenetter! We wish you many more years of wedded bliss.
