Last week I attended two events for NYFW 2014, Plus Night Out and SheaMoisture Cosmetics for Korto Momolu. Both events promoted fashion styles and looks for women of color. The models were fierce, owning the stage with each step, and giving the camera lots of attitude. I was honored to attend these shows, specifically because they were unique and offered attendees something a little extra.

Plus Night Out, an event showcasing styles for plus size women, included a variety of talented designers. Ashley Stewart, Qristyl Fraizer, Tru Diva, and Jon Marc were a few of my favorites to name a few. Theses styles exceeded beyond the valued standards of chic and elegance. Jon Marc’s collection had ‘Rock star’ written all over it, with each model provocatively rocking stunna shades with each ensemble.

Dresses both for work and play were popular in Tru Diva’s collection and many more fun fashion styles followed throughout the rest of the show. At the end of the event, we found out that the models were also competing in a PNO Model Search Awards. Which made a great ending for lucky winner, Wema Enofe, to a very special night. Meanwhile on the rooftop, at the Korto Momolu event—I got a chance to see the natural glow of SheaMoisture products radiate from the faces of the models. Some of my favorite products that I got to see backstage were the SheaMoisture: Tahitian Noni & Monoi Smooth & Repair Nourishing Hair Masque. It smelled wonderful and was light to the touch, perfect for anyone with wavy or curly hair. The hair products such as Smooth and Repair Conditioning Shampoo were all sulfate free, containing natural ingredients, and is safe for colored hair as well.
Lead makeup artist Renny Vasquez, perfected each model by careful color usage to keep their natural looks fierce. On each seat inside were goodie bags with SheaMoisture product samples inside Attendees were spoiled nevertheless and treated to a very awesome and chic runway performance.
