Real Weddings {Washington, D.C.}: Angel & Tyree! – Blackbride.com

Angel  and Tyree met on one of the most romantic days of the year- Valentine’s Day. The two had never met, but spoke frequently over the phone and on February 14th, 2010, they both decided to finally meet face to face. "Tyree was very original with his plans for Valentine’s Day. Tyree asked me if I would like to do something different for Valentine’s Day and of course my response was…. 'What did you have in mind???'  Tyree then said, 'well I play basketball and I have a game out of town today, would you like to come with me?' My first reaction was, 'he must be crazy to think I am going out of town with a complete stranger!' I thought about it for a moment and for some reason there was a comfort in his voice that made me feel like I would be safe," recalls Angel.  The two met at a public location and went on their way to the game. Tyree had his brother drive, so he could sit in back with Angel and they spent the entire ride talking and getting to know each other better. Angel knew almost immediately that Tyree was the man for her. "It was in those moments looking into his eyes and us getting to know one another, that I knew this was it! I knew that Tyree would forever be my love and one day my husband. We have been inseparable ever since," said Angel.  Angel and Tyree celebrated their union with a Gatsby themed wedding at the Carnegie Library at Mt Vernon Square,  in Washington, D.C. Engagement story { From the bride}:

We got engaged over the Christmas holiday, December 2011. The family decided to spend Christmas in Lake Tahoe that year. We enjoyed Christmas with family and friends. On the evening of December 26, 2011. My Mom asked the family to go ice skating. They all get to the ice rink and to my surprise we had the place all to ourselves. We all enjoyed ice skating and taking pictures and spending quality time together. Then I hear shouting from the other end of the Ice Rink. I being as blind as I am and everyone yelling at me, look! I squint, look around and finally clear as day I see a "HUGE" sign that says Angel "WILL YOU MARRY ME." Tyree then escorts me over to the sign and in front of my  entire Family, Tyree get's down on one knee in ice skates and proposes. With no hesitation, I say of course I will….. YES!!!! There is something to be said about a man that rents out the entire ice rink, get's down on one knee in ice skates and proposes in front of the entire family. From the first moment I laid eyes on this man, I said I was going to marry Tyree one day and today I found out Tyree felt the same about me.

From the Groom:

The day of our wedding I felt some nerves at first because it is a big step to marry and spend your life with the person you love but I knew that Angel was the one and only for me. The wedding was more than I expected and the love from family made it all the more special.

From the Bride:

The day of our wedding I wasn’t nervous at all to marry Tyree. I had already made my decision years ago that Tyree was the one for me. The day went so smooth because we have wonderful families and an amazing coordinator in Jon’ll Boyd, who made sure that our vision and dreams were as we dreamed. I remember everything from the time I woke up to the time we had to leave. Our day was so full of love from everyone and I will never forget any detail of that moment and our special day.

Your best/most memorable moment:

There were a few….. Our first Look at Union Station in Washington, DC, Tyree's was seeing Angel for the first time when walking down the aisle and getting emotional. Angel’s was jumping the broom and walking into the reception as a Family Tyree, Jaslynn (Tyree’s Daughter) and Me.

Favorite wedding detail:

The ceremony decor, the head table during the reception was amazing, The flower arrangements were stunning, The Candy Room made you feel like a kid again, the night club made you relax and party. Honestly ALL of it was truly breathtaking.

Wedding song, explain choice for song:

“All of me” by John Legend. The song explains our love for one another and how it is hard sometimes but nothing can break you apart because you are now one person.

What makes your love special?

We make each other laugh and we have a love and friendship that is unbreakable.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Building on the life we have already created and making our bond as husband and wife, best friends and family stronger than ever.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Take it all in!!! Do not miss any of the moments because even though it is one day, it is they day you're committed to one another for eternity.
