Bride: Adrienne Dawn Gurley, 33, Attorney

Groom: Christopher Dominique Gurley, 30, Attorney

Place of residence:  Alexandria, VA

Wedding date:  9/2/12

Honeymoon Destination: Barbados

Engagement story:

We got engaged on New Year’s Eve at Geja’s Café, dubbed the most romantic restaurant in Chicago.  We were dating long distance at the time and Adrienne flew to Chicago to spend the holiday there.  The ring was placed in the fondue pot of the last course and right before midnight, Chris proposed.

From the Bride:

My wedding day was everything I could have asked for and more.  Everything went as planned and was perfect.  I felt like it was the perfect day.  Everyone had a great time.  It was such an amazing day that I wish I could go back in time to experience it all over again.

From the Groom:

We are both detailed and meticulous people so it is safe to say we probably over-planned for the wedding. But it made the day smooth and seamless. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and loved being surrounded by all our family and friends.

What makes your love special?

It has withstood the test of time and long distance!

Your best/most memorable moment:

Just seeing everyone dancing and having a good time is what was memorable to us. Having our family and closest friends all come together to celebrate us made the day unforgettable.

Wedding song:

Nothing Can Change This Love by Sam Cooke. Chris is an old soul and loves old school artists. He found this song which was short, direct and sweet. It’s a classic.

What are you most looking forward to as a married couple?

Growing old together, and watching our son grow up!

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day:

Have fun and don’t sweat the small stuff.  It is your day and everyone is there to celebrate you.  It IS possible for everything to go perfectly as planned.  Spend time planning and organizing before the wedding so that on the day of, you have no worries.
