Real Engagements {Chicago}: Ariana & Shane's Surpise Chicago Bulls Proposal!

When a man proposes, it's his opportunity to show his woman how much he loves her. Now imagine a man who loves his woman enough to propose to her in front of thousands of people and on live national Television! Yes, this really happened. Ariana Rosado, a Chicago Bulls dancer, got the surprise of her life when Shane Zackery, her boyfriend of 2 years proposed to her during the Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat basketball game. Their proposal video went viral in a matter of days ! We got a chance to catch up with Ariana and Shane to talk about their game time love! How did you meet? We met in college. In 2009 we crossed paths and introduced ourselves in our dorm hall at Saint Xavier University. We instantly became friends and remained so until junior year when we began dating officially. We've been together for 2 years and are looking forward to the rest of our lives.

Engagement story: Our engagement proposal was the most perfect proposal for me. My fiancé teamed up with my Luvabulls teammates and the Bulls Entertainment Staff to put together a production of a proposal. In the middle of our 3^rd quarter performance the music changed and my team began to break out into choreography that I did not know. Benny the Bull sat me down in a chair and my team began to dance around me. My boyfriend, now fiancé, then popped out of a inflatable Bulls costume and asked me to marry him on center court. It was a beautiful proposal and perfect for me considering I love dance and performance and the proposal included both!

For the Groom: How did you decide that you wanted to propose in such a grand way? Walk us through the behind the scenes of creating this special day.

Honestly, I have the worlds best girlfriend and she deserved it. I really wanted to do something special for her. She has been my right hand man/ best friend through everything and I wanted to show her how much I truly love, care, and appreciate her and just overall how much she means to me. This was the perfect time since it was my birthday and she wouldn’t have suspected anything, being that it was my day! Also, why not do it at a bulls game when she is pursuing her dream, which is dance. She was always there for me with Football, so I wanted to do something big. It took a great deal of planning to create the special day. First off, I contacted one of the Luvabulls to help get me in contact with the right people. Then, once I spoke to Shante, the Luvabulls coach, she brought up the idea to the head of Bulls Entertainment, Michelle. From then on, they helped me create the whole proposal and helped to make it the most amazing proposal for Ariana. We even had to have a secret rehearsal without Ariana to make sure everything went smoothly.

What makes your love special?

Everything! No really… we like to think that it’s the fact that we were friends first because before we were together we loved each other as friends and individuals first and being friends we were already huge supporters of one another. Once we started dating that just overlapped into our relationship and made it that much stronger.

What are you most looking forward to about your wedding?

Being able to look each other in the eyes and say, “I Do” because in that moment we will know that we have committed ourselves to each other not only in front of our friends and family, but in front of God as well.
